Human liver fluke4/15/2023 ![]() ![]() A single worm can lay 500 eggs a day in its bile duct habitat. Because a fluke grows and lays eggs in the biliary ducts, it creates a far higher increased risk of Cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer). Liver flukes are linked to a greater fibrosis and cirrhosis of the liver (liver rot disease) and to a heightened risk of bile duct cancer ( 3), not just liver cancer. We have already reviewed the research linking Toxoplasma gondii to heightened brain cancer and breast cancer risk. It is possible you might get some pain, but that is rare.Ī problem, which is estimated to infect 10% of the global population and growing, is the rise of meat-borne parasites and specifically those in pigs ( 2).Īlthough only the last two are worms, all four infect humans and pork production is predicted to rise by 18.5 per cent over the next 10 years. Sometimes you may be constipated, other times you may have diarrhoea. The young worms move through the blood system to the liver and then to the bile ducts where they reach adulthood and produce eggs. Then there’s a third type of liver fluke, the common liver fluke or Fasciola hepatica, which tends to inhabit sheep, cattle and there are even eggs in canals, rivers, lakes and watercress beds! Fasciola Gigantica is known to inhabit humans.įlukes are flatworms or ‘ Helminths’ and Fasciola is found in more than 70 countries, including the Western world countries. Untreated, the infection may last for 25-30 years, the lifetime of the parasite, according to America’s CDC ( 1). They infect humans, particularly the liver, bile duct and gallbladder.Īnd here’s the big problem - you probably don’t know you have been infected! There was no fever, no diarrhoea, no food-poisoning sickness. The former is found from India to China, and the latter is more centred on SEA and Germany, Italy, Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. How about Germany or Italy?Įating undercooked fish, prawns, crayfish and crab can give you one of two types of liver fluke - Clonorchis or Opisthorchis. Have you ever been to South East Asia on Holiday? Or India? Or China? Parasites - worms or fluke - that are common in South East Asia, China, India and which live and rapidly breed in the bile ducts are an important factor in the increasing levels of Cholangiocarcinoma (Bile Duct cancer), liver cancer and gallbladder disease unfortunately, the parasite is becoming resistant to drugs. > The CANCERactive 3D approach to Cancer Prevention.> UKs number 1 cancer prevention Charity.> CANCERactive Guidelines On Diet, Exercise and more.> Building Your Program To Fight Cancer.> Complementary and Integrative Cancer Therapies.> Orthodox, Or Mainstream, Cancer Treatments. ![]() > Orthodox, Complementary, Integrative and Alternative Cancer Treatment. ![]()
